GORDITA

Sam is getting just as many "Ah, Gordita!" as she is "Ah que linda".
Now the abuelitas that say this, say both with an equally sweet tone. And I know they mean it as a compliment. And after having to basically force feed Joey, when she was little, I'll take it!
My Sammy girl doesn't skip a meal!

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!

Joey: "I wanna watch Floss."
Dad: "Huh? What's Floss?"
Joey: "You know. Floss and the Blue Goons."
Dad: (thinking...) "Do you mean The Goonies? Sloth?"
Joey: "Yeah. I wanna watch that again."

OFF THE CHART

Took Sam to her 2 month old check up today.
I'd like to tell you she was in the the 90 something percentile... But she wasn't.
She wasn't even on the chart.
She is a graph line or two past the chart in both height and weight.
She is 24 inches long and weighs 13 lbs 11 oz. (Joey was 22 3/4 and 10 lbs 15 ozs at her 2 month check up.)
But while she is big, she is not too fat. I asked. She is proportional. She just looks like a 4 month old instead of a 2 month old. She doesn't look like an obese 2 month old. (I have to stop calling her Hungry Hungry Hippo.)

PLAY DATE... KEYS STYLE

Nothing like an intergenerational playdate... Keys style.
Above is Caitlyn. Below is Joey. I know... we got them mixed up all weekend too.
Had Andy and his sister, Susie, with her granddaughter, Caitlyn, down to the keys a couple weekends ago.

Even the adults would get to giggling when watching those two giggle monster twins get to goin'.
Oh, and Andy may have lost his seat on the boat during lobster season next year.
Susie is a natural!
I've been pregnant for too long... I forgot how much fun waverunning is!

Joey only likes to go fast when she is driving.
Mark and Joey practiced driving in JOMANTHA. (That is what we call her little skiff.)
I know its rare to see my father take it easy, but he really does love to float while everyone else is having a good time.
 That grouper was good!
Joey is a much better helper than I was at 3. She likes to help clean up. She doesn't want to take a bath till vehicles are all clean.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Okay, I know it's not Halloween yet, but I just bought their costumes now. I learned my lesson last year, when all the Disney stores in the entire Miami-Dade County were out of the Sleeping Beauty accessories 3 WEEKS before Halloween.

Joey wants, very badly, to be Captain America. But since she has 1/2 dozen princess costumes in her closet and one more costume would be extravagant, she is paying for half of it. (It comes with the mask, gloves, and boot-shoe covers.)

Sam is going to be Minnie Mouse!

Of course, we might also dress her up to be Joey's side kick for a picture or two... as the incredible hulk.
We think she'll fill up the suit well.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN

That's Captain Joey to you!
Grandpa decided that Joey was getting to the age where she should learn how to drive a boat.
So he bought one her size.

Apparently our current boats were too big, so he bought a 17 ft Carolina Skiff.
We call it Jomantha, as it is really for both of them.
So Joey took us out on her boat a few Sundays ago.
We actually went boating in Miami... something we haven't done in years!
We set out of Blackpoint and headed to Elliot Key.
This was Samantha's 1st boat ride.
All babies I know love boating. The fresh salty sea air, the rhythm of the boat, the roar of the engine and being held the whole time... all of them drift off and stay fast asleep.

The lighthouse was closed for renovations.
That little Skiff did wonderfully with the bay chop, though it is obviously designed for flats fishing and calmer waters.
 A nice Sunday afternoon.

DISNEY HALF MARATHON

Dad, Chris, Andy & I are officially registered for the Disney World 1/2 Marathon, Saturday, Jan 12th 2013.
Although my dad and I have been joggers for decades, this will be our first 1/2 marathon.
The 19 week training program started yesterday.

Follow the link above for info. (There are a lot of running events that weekend, we are doing the 1/2 marathon.)
You can check out the course, see all that's included (stop for pics with characters along the way), the training program... frankly more info than you can digest in one sitting.

While I hope to, first of all, finish... I also hope to finish well!

SLEEPING LIKE A BABY

I'm a back sleeper.
My babies are not.
During the day, when I can watch her, I let her sleep on her tummy and she is clearly more comfortable that way. But until she can rollover, I follow the expert advise and put her "back to sleep" at night.
Actually, she usually sleeps strapped in to her jiggle chair during the night.

VANNA WHITE

Joey helped Daddy close the shutters in anticipation of tropical storm Isaac.
It's amazing to me that even in the middle of doing manual labor, or playing hard, or doing any number of tomboy things, she manages to look SO girly!

BACK TO SCHOOL

Joey's 1st day back to school.
She wanted to wear this dress because it twirls nice.
But she paired it with her Avengers back pack and lunch box.
