GRASS

Joey and I were playing TICKLE TICKLE on our bed this morning.
I was laying on my back and raised my arm so she could tickle me.
She paused, look down my sleeve, and exclaimed:

"GRASS!"

Mommy: "No Joey, that is Mommy's armpit hair."

(shaking her head no, she then shoved her finger into my arm pit and pointed)
Joey: "No, look Mommy, GRASS!"

Mommy: "You're right. it's grass."

I promptly shaved.

PETE'S BARBER SHOP

Joey HAD to get her hair cut at Pete's Barber Shop in Sunniland.
And Lefty had to do it.

Did you know there is a picture of Lefty up in Mom-Mom's bedroom?
True story.
(It's a picture of Matthew's 1st haircut)
Lefty gave Mark his first haircut, and so Joey HAD to go there too.

I KNOW YOU

HAPPY DAY MOMMY!

Joey, Mark & I did my birthday dinner on Saturday. Apparently it was 2 other people's birthdays as well. When everyone around her starting to sing Happy Birthday to the lady at the next table, Joey thought that was the greatest.
Thankfully, Mark declined to embarrass me at this time. But Joey continued singing "Happy Day" long after everyone else had stopped.

She sang "Happy Day Mommy" to me many times as we waited for the check.

DADDY'S LITTLE HELPER

Joey helped Daddy turn her crib into a big girl bed.

She help the beams and hammered...
And helped Daddy with his tools.
Then she tested it out... just to be safe.
Then she practiced climbing in
crawling over...
and falling in too!

BIG GIRL BED

Mark transformed Joey's crib into a toddler bed yesterday.
Last night was the first night that Joey slept in a big girl bed!

This morning, when she woke up, she called for us to come get her as usual. But we stayed in our bedroom and called for her to come to us. She finally did.

She climbed out of bed, and wandered into Mommy's & Daddy's bed for the first time.

My little girl is growing up!

MOMMY, YOU PRETTY!

I took off this past Thursday so that I could get some school stuff done.
I was going to be out and about, so I did my hair in the morning and had a nice outfit picked out. (If I'm just going to stay home or go to the office, you are lucky I change out of my PJs.)

I was still in my house dress when I was fixing breakfast for Joey. While she finished eating, I changed. When I cam back in and took her out of her highchair she stood back and looked at me.

Joey: Mommy, you dress!

Me: Yes, Joey. Mommy is wearing a skirt.

Joey: Mommy, you pretty!

After that, she could have asked for a pony and the answer would have been yes.

SWIMMING, ABOVE POV

I SEE YOU!

Joey's big thing this week has been the use of the word "I".
I love you.
I see you.
I go.

She understands that she is "I", just like she is Joey.

She has whole conversations by herself.

"What happened Petey?"
"Where's Petey?"
"Uh... there's Petey!"
"I see you!"

That was a common conversation she had with herself (or with the dog, depending on how you look at it.) this weekend because she is obsessed with the puppy.

MEET & GREET AT THE ZOO

TWINKLE TWINKLE

Yesterday Joey woke up at 6 AM.
I said something along the lines of "Oh Hellll Nooo!"
I went and scooped her up and brought her into my bed in the hopes of cuddling her back to sleep.
That didn't work.

1st, she was sticking her fingers in my eyes because if she can open my lids and see my eyes, then I'm awake and she cries out "See you!"

2nd, when I thought she was settling down, all of a sudden she pops her head up and:

Twinkle, Twinkle
... STAR!
How you are?
Up, high ...
sky... fly!
Twinkle, Twinkle
... STAR!
How you are?

ALL DONE! ((Clapping)) YEAH!!

I didn't know they were teaching her this at pre-school.
That was a truly awesome moment.
My daughter sang me awake.
